Admission Policy

GNVS Institute of Management has pre-decided admission policy which takes care of all the rules and regulations of the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), University of Mumbai, Govt. of Maharashtra and All India Council of Tech. Edu. (AICTE). Its salient features are:

  1. To be admitted to the MMS Degree course, the student must have appeared and cleared and scored min. marks as required by DTE at any CET Examination approved by the competent Authority of State or Center.
  2. Any student belonging to the Open Caste Category must have scored minimum 50% of aggregate marks in the 5th and 6th Semester Exams at graduate level of the mark sheets are issued on the basis of CGPS scoring pattern, the student must get ______ grades at both 5th and 6th Semester Exam at the qualifying degree level examination.
  3. Students belonging to SC, ST, OBC, SBC, NT Category are required only 45% marks or equivalent CGPS Score at graduate level qualifying exam.
  4. All students willing to get admission at GNVS Institute of Management are required to pay non-refundable admission form fees as decided by the institute from year to year.
  5. As its best practice, GNVS IOM provides the part payment of fee facility. He or she has to give a declaration about the balance fee payment pattern, failing which late payment charges will be levied on daily basis to observe and maintain financial discipline of the institute. The details of the dates and payments will be notified to the students and students are supposed to observe the schedule so as to avoid any late payment charges.
  6. A student willing to pay the entire fee at the admission time itself is provided some concession in the total fee. This practice is encouraged.
  7. I.V. fees will be charged at the time of the date of declaration of I.V. The I.V. fee will depend on the place, mode of transport and the facilities (common to all) availed by the student.
  8. Affordable blazer, tie, shirt and trouser will be provided by the Institute to all admitted students who have paid the min payable fee.
  9. Any other fee, such as Outbound and site seeing charges will be charged as and when organized.
  10. Student has to take minimum 5 Industrial Industry Visits in the subjects of his/her choice in an academic year. Such visits will be on holidays/Sundays and will be max of one or two day’s duration with Local Industries to enhance the Industry Institute Interaction. Travelling and other expenditure of the I.V has to be borne by the students. I.V’s will be compulsory for the Management Students on the basis of which they will be preparing and submitting the Industrial Visit Reports which will be the part of Final Examinations and marks and grades will be awarded on the basis of such I.V’s and Industrial Projects, Certificates will also be given by the Institute for these I.V’s.
  11. Students are advised to collect the receipt for each and every payment they make to the Institute.
  12. Photocopy (XEROX) and computer printout facility are provided in the institute at concessional rate after payment of photocopy/computer printout charges on the basis of receipts (photocopy/computer printout) to them from the accounts dept. of the Institute.
  13. For submitting the project/assignments/case studies only reminder will be notified on the Institutes Notice Board, failing which no project/assignments/case studies will be accepted and the student will be marked absent and accordingly the University and college examination dept. will be informed and the student will be declared Absent and ‘zero” marks will be submitted to the examination dept. of the University and / College mark sheet.
  14. If a student fails to pay the fee as agreed by him in declaration at the time of admission, to maintain the financial discipline in the institute, late payment will be charged on daily basis on the balance fees. (Repeated in point no. V)
  15. Transfer Certificates and Transcripts issuing charges will have to be paid by the students as per the University rules.
  16. Students may apply for the photocopy(s) of their answer books for which he/she has to pay charges as per the University rules of the University of Mumbai from time to time. The students are required and are also advised to obtain and the Receipts which should be produced by them to get the Photocopy(s) from the examination dept.
  17. Any student who is unable to clear more than two papers at the examination, he/she will be required to reappear in the next semester examination in addition to his/her regular papers of the semester and same will be informed to the University accordingly and their final year mark sheet and results will be prepared as per the rules of the University.
  18. ATKT, as per the University rules is allowed to a student who fails only in two papers and ATKT exam is to be conducted along with regular papers of next nearest semester examination and the results will be declared accordingly with ATKT remarks or otherwise as the case may be according to the rules of the University.
  19. If a student fails or according to him has scored less marks than his / her expectations, he / she may apply for the photocopy of his/her answer papers according to the University rates and rules within the notified days and failing which he/she may not be allowed to avail the photocopy of the answer books.
  20. After the date(s) of availing the photocopy if he/she is convinced, may apply for the Revaluation of the answer paper(s) within the notified days (dates), failing which no revaluation will be done. Charges for the revaluation will be strictly according to the University norms. Students are advised and required to take the receipts after making payments in the Accounts Dept. of the Institute so as to get the results from the exam dept.
  21. There may be some situations where the institute has to charge some fine or late payment fee such as library book related fine, computer related fine, misuse of sports equipment related fine, mobile related fine, etc. Students are required to pay fine and collect the receipt(s) in all such situations so as to make all such receipts and payments transparent. Note: Collection of fine and late payment dues are unwanted burden on parents, still to maintain discipline and transparency, the institute is sometimes forced to charge such fines and late payments to maintain the discipline.
  22. Various Committees such as examination committee, curricular committee, sports committee, etc are vital committee’s for smooth functioning of the Institute. All these committee’s actively take keen interest in their day to day activities.
  23. Anti Ragging Committee is responsible not only to curb but also to monitor and take action in any incident reported to them.
  24. Women Development cell is keen observer of any women related offences. Knowing it fully well that prevention is better than cure, the cell keeps keen observation for women related offence and complaints. It keeps the records of each and every incident and the students and still is advised to report any untoward incident within 24 hours of the incident, failing which it may become improbable and impossible for the cell to initiate appropriate action in the matters.
  25. Parking facility for the student’s vehicles (two wheelers) is made available in the opposite side on the Technical School Ground. Parking passes are issued to the students with their names and vehicle nos.
  26. Attendance in Regular lectures as well as Tutorial classes is compulsory.
  27. As per the new syllabus the majority of the subjects will require hands on laptop computer facility. The students are advised to have their personal Laptop’s in the Regular lectures, case studies and discussions.
  28. Students have to form along with certain teaching and non – teaching staff members a committee to look after the performance and cleanliness of the canteen. The canteen committee should look after the day to day functioning and menus of the canteen. Canteen committee is to suggest the various solutions so as to improve the quality of the eatables and cleanliness.
  29. Students should form interclass discussion groups on various current topics, in order to enhance their presentation skills for better performance at interviews.
  30. Students should form their own placement groups to have regular discussion on various political, economic and socio economic activities to make themselves aware of the current financial and economic scenarios of the country.
  31. Students should not miss any soft skill development training programmes organized by the Institute.
  32. Regular guest lectures are organized on various Finance, Economics, Political, IT, HR related topics. Students should make their habit to attend such programmes and guest lectures as per notifications are made about such guest lectures.
  33. Students are required to organize the Alumni Association meets for which they can get the records from the office and in consultation with the Placement Cell and Professors; they have to organize Alumni Meets which actually helps in placements.

Under this programme, to ease the financial burden of the costly management education in Mumbai, we encourage the students to take the jobs on part time/regular basis during their free timings and holidays, when there are no lectures and assignment in the Time Table, which will help them in acquiring better final placement and create better Industry Corporate Institute Relations.
